London, together with Thomas and John Thrale, re-mortgaged the same property to Anthony Farrington of London, gentleman, in consideration of £631 to Jaques and £368 to the Thrales. Special legal provision had to be made for the will of Thomas Thrale's father John and Thomas and his wife Alice had a covenant against further claim.37

Happily it can be reported that even ten years later, the Thrales were still at Thrales End. By the will of Margaret Thrale of Thrales End, single woman 'of good health and perfect memory', proved in 166138 legacies were left to her relatives, the Wicks and the Cotchetts. Of especial interest is that one of the witnesses was Joshua Lomax, member of a family very much involved with the Sandridge Thrales, who had established themselves there one and a half centuries earlier, and it is to this place that attention must now be turned.
