Name Ralph Norman Thrale Birth 20 Apr 1803 Sandridge, Hertfordshire, England [1] Christening Y [1] Gender Male Note One of the bachelor brothers - Ralph Norman Thrale and William Thrale - was deadly accurate with a catapult, whilst the other was equally accurate with a bow and arrow both were crack shots with a rifle [2] Note Ralph Norman Thrale gained local distinction by shooting a large panther which had escaped from a menagerie and which was loose around the parish worrying the sheep. The incident provided wonderful material for the local newspaper, The Herts Reformer on the 30 May 1836. [2] Property Nomansland, Sandridge, Hertfordshire, England [2] Ralph Norman Thrale and his brother William were also famed for their museum which used to be a favourite outing for the villagers during Easter. The museum contained, in the first part, almost every sort of indigenous vermin, from the field mouse up to the big dog fox; the second part consisted of every kind of flower and grass that the farm grew.
