Hester purchased two estates:

Hester Lynch Thrale née Salusbury was born at Bodvel Hall, in 1741 and and in adult life spent time here after the death of Henry Thrale in 1781. She then made improvements to the estate, including building a new wing on Bodvel House and landscaping the grounds. The estate included:

  • Bodvel Hall, a large country house built in the 17th century
  • several buildings, including two churches, a school, and a farm
  • over 2,000 acres of land, including farmland, woodland, and parkland
  • several villages and hamlets, possibly including:

    • Rhoscolyn
    • Sybylltir
    • Bryngwallon
    • Ty Mawr
    • Bryn Madoc

She continued to visit it regularly until she died in 1821.

Sale

There are conflicting reports about the estate's fate, one report says that she sold in in 1797, and another that she gave it to her adopted son on the occasion of his marriage.
